Message from the Principal

It has been another very busy, fast moving term here at Monash. The staff continue to work diligently developing some great programs across the school, and we are seeing some exciting developments in our student outcomes.

Our parent group have again been working very hard on fund raising and are developing a great group of parents working for a common cause and building some friendships along the way. We had a very successful Bunnings Sausage Sizzle this term and another great Mother’s Day Stall where our students love buying presents for their mums. Many thanks must go to the parents and staff who volunteered their time to make these school fundraisers such a success. Our parents group meet on Tuesdays, usually following My Time sessions. All parents are welcome to join the group.

We continue to benefit from the generosity of local business who are keen to donate their time and dollars to projects around the school. This term we have had donations from Cummins, Teleflex and the Commonwealth Bank. We are now developing a very impressive BBQ area just behind the pool, which will be used for student activities and whole school & community events.

Families are now able to access their child’s reports via Compass and hard copies are also available on request. I believe our new format is very impressive and provides families with lots of information regarding student programs, progress against individual goals and how this relates to the Victorian Curriculum. The staff have worked very hard to deliver quality reports to the parent community.

Without doubt our most exciting news was that of our $1.9 million allocation from the State Government for Capital Works. Our priority will be the upgrade to the change rooms at the pool and   to our old portables and ideally some other projects around the school. We also had the visit from our Premier Daniel Andrews, where we had the opportunity to show case our school. It was a very exciting morning and I believe that we made a very positive impression and that he now has a greater understanding of our needs.

Very exciting times ahead!

Wishing you all a happy and safe term break.

Kind Regards

Lois Mitchell
